DTN COMMENTS: Yet another slow start to the day in cash cattle country
this morning with bids remaining rather elusive and asking prices not
fully established as of yet. In Nebraska yesterday, a few bids were noted
at $408/$260, but the were passed for the most part, a handful of trade
was reported at those prices, but certainly not enough to establish any
kind of an accurate trend for the week. Beef cutouts are expected to be
lower with light to moderate box movement.
The period ending June 18, net beef sales of 21,300 MT for 2026 were up
noticeably from the previous week and up 88 percent from the prior 4-week
average. Increases were primarily for South Korea (7,100 MT), Japan
(3,400 MT), Taiwan (3,400 MT), Mexico (1,200 MT), and Hong Kong (1,200
MT). Exports of 13,000 MT were unchanged from the previous week, but up 2
percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to
South Korea (3,800 MT), Japan (3,300 MT), Taiwan (1,500 MT), Mexico
(1,200 MT), and Hong Kong (800 MT).
